Tell me where the freedom is and I'll show you a fence

I need someone to set me free,

From all the pain that's killing me,

For all the laws of ideal life,

Are building walls of bitter strife,

When rules so big are uncontained,

Religious lives are unrestrained,

For falling weights of hard nosed truth

Will cripple love and damage youth.

Marx said it drugged the untold masses,

Religions for the middle classes,

It's also for the poor man too,

[So kindly move him out of view],

Let's keep it clean and keep it nice,

I just don't want to pay the price,

Of living outside structure's mould,

Its warm in here ? Outside it's cold.

The church has seen it all before,

From "Your a sinner ? Therešs the door",

To soggy Christian sentiment,

Two men hug ?

They must be bent,

Society seems to have its say,

In postures used when time to pray,

But when it comes to speak to them,

The words are choked beneath the phlegm.

I remember reading in a book,

Of all the blood and pain it took,

To save us from man's rules and ways,

And Jesus proved it in three days,

And really when the chips are down,

They took His body out of town,

And nailed it to a well-used tree,

So from the rulebook we'd be free.
